Join Sharon Muza, PALS/DONA certified doula, doula trainer and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, at this exciting Advanced Doula Training on VBAC: With the cesarean rate approaching 32% in 2007, more and more women find themselves with few options for a vaginal birth after a cesarean, having a doula with VBAC knowledge can really help a woman navigate the choices and obstacles that may come up as she tries for a VBAC. Participants will also have the chance to learn more about the client perspective from panelists who will talk about their own VBAC experience.
At the end of this very timely ADT, participants will be able to:
1. Identify the characteristics of “VBAC Friendly” providers and facilities in our community.
2. Accurately understand the true risks of VBAC and repeat cesarean section to both mom and baby.
3. Become familiar with current hospital protocols and community standards for VBAC’ing moms.
4. Receive suggestions for work that can be done prenatally with your client to help her achieve her goal of a vaginal birth.
5. Strategize techniques for labor to help with both emotional and physiological dystocia.
6. Create a resource list for both cesarean and VBAC clients.
7. Debrief the birth experience effectively with your client in a postpartum visit, whether it is a successful VBAC or a repeat cesarean.
