PALS Doulas ADT: TENS & The Business of Being a Doula 9/12/09

Two fabulous trainings in one day! We have had so much interest in these two topics recently, that we decided to put them together in one day. You can attend one or both of the workshops.

Skills Workshop: Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator (TENS)

TENS is a simple self-administered pain relief method that can be used for laboring women, especially for back pain. Penny will present a history of TENS, research findings, and a hands-on demonstration of its use for laboring women. Participants will have the opportunity to use it. Penny will also describe how doulas can offer TENS to their clients and remain within DONA’s scope of practice. TENS units and stimulating pads will be available for purchase.

And, if time allows . . . . Penny will also present her talk The OP Fetus: How Little We Know.

The Business Side of Being a Doula

Are you a newly trained or practicing doula? Do you want to learn more about how to get your business off to the right start? This informative workshop will explore more deeply your role as a doula as well as provide resources for the entrepreneurial doula. You will also have a chance to meet experienced doulas. Bring your questions and leave with the information and motivation to turn your passion into the business you have always wanted.
