Biography
I went into doula work because it is a true calling in my life. Doula care is my full time vocation. This is not something I do on the side and as such I take on each client with intention, focus and offering a full partnership with the couple over the course of this journey. After the birth of my own daughter three years ago, I realized what a transformational experience birth can be and I want to participate in helping women have an optimal, emotionally well supported and informed birth experience.
For me, the purpose of my doula work is to holistically support women and partners through their unique experience of pregnancy, labor and birth. To be a doula is to be in a supportive relationship. The two prenatal meetings I offer are a time to prepare for labor, formulate a vision of birthing, as well evaluate the suggestions, pressures and expectations of others and those individuals I am working with may have for themselves.
It is important to me that families that consider working with me know that I do not advocate for a specific place, style or type of birth. I respect each woman's choice to birth in the way and place she feels is right for her. I look forward to understanding in depth the reasons for decisions surrounding birth so I can help a family advocate for themselves and strengthen communication and relationship with all care providers involved in the labor and birth. I enjoy working in the hospital environment as well as in a home and at the birth centers. I am at ease as a doula when I am attending a woman in labor wherever she may be.
