Biography
My greatest pleasure as a birth doula and childbirth educator is watching families and expectant women become confident, joyous and excited about the birth and early parenting of their children. I firmly believe any fear and anxiety we might have can be used to examine our choices and beliefs, and help us open our minds and hearts to find ways of coping and parenting that are just right for us. When I think about the power of preparing for labor, birth, and parenthood, Maya Angelou sums it up best: "When you know better, you do better...”.
Background: A professional certified birth doula, childbirth educator and DONA-approved doula trainer, Kim has provided physical, emotional and informational support to families in the greater Seattle and Eastside communities for over 10 years. Kim is committed to yearly professional continuing education in the areas of obstetrics, midwifery, breastfeeding, birth and postpartum support, and adult education. Kim holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington and has worked in development at the University of Washington and retail management for the Starbucks Coffee Company. Her daughters are 12 and 5 years old.
