Biography

I have been involved with birth as a doula for about 10 years. My own 8 children have taught me much about the importance of support and faith during the labor process. My first 3 babies were born by c/sec, and 5 were born naturally. These include a set of twins. I've had 3 homebirths. I am grateful for my own experiences with c/sec and natural birth, as well as to the women who have invited me into their birth experience and allowed me to be a part of the births of their children. It is an amazing and beautiful priviledge. I have faith in women's strength, and in the birth process as normal and safe. My work is to communicate that trust to the women and families I serve so that their labor and birthing experience can be what it was meant to be.

Birth Doula Certifications

  • I am currently certified with PALS.

Formal Training

  • I completed the DONA labor support course, as well as an apprenticeship with a licensed homebirth midwife.

Continuing Education

  • I am a student in a midwifery program. I continue my education and training in birth work through related workshops and study, which include Neonatal Rescucitation with Karen Stange, GBS and Newborn Hearing Screening at Bastyr University, and AAMI\'s MIdwifery Skills Lab.

Experience or Specialized Training

  • I have experience as a doula for women delivering in hospitals and homebirths. I am certified in neonatal rescuscitation, and have been trained as a midwifery apprentice. I am currently enrolled in a midwifery education program.

Other

  • There is no fee for our first time meeting. If we agree to work together I am available anytime by phone for questions you may have. I accept a check for 50% of my fee, and the balance is due at our postpartum visit.
  • I will meet with you 1-2 times before your birth. We work out a birth plan, as well as address any concerns or questions you may have about the labor and birth process. When you are in labor I will come to be with you when you decide you want me there. This can be at home or wherever you are planning to deliver. You will have my undivided attention and support from the time I arrive until after the birth of your baby. I also come and visit you within a week after the birth to talk with you and answer any questions you may have about the birth and newborn care.
